NTE: Neverness to Everness is about as stuffed with systems as any gacha that has launched in years. On the surface it is a supernatural urban action RPG set in Hethereau, a city riddled with anomalies, where you play an Appraiser hunting ghosts and strange phenomena with a team of four Espers. Underneath, developer Hotta Studio (the Tower of Fantasy team) bolted on a full driving system with real physics plus City Tycoon, a property management mode. That is a lot of game. This guide cuts through the noise so you know what actually matters in week one.

Combat: Swapping, Parries and Elemental Synergy

NTE combat stands on three pillars, and learning them early is what separates clean clears from deaths you never saw coming.

Swapping is the engine. You run a squad of four Espers and change between them in the middle of a fight. Swapping is more than a panic button. Plenty of characters have skills that reward tagging in at the right beat, and rotating keeps your damage flowing while cooldowns tick down. Get used to cycling all four instead of tunneling on your favorite.

Parry windows set your defensive ceiling. The parry system gives you a tight window to negate an incoming attack and crack the enemy open for a counter. Against tougher anomalies, reading tells and parrying is far more reliable than trying to heal through the damage. Drill it on weak mobs until the timing lives in your hands.

Elemental synergy multiplies everything. The Esper system runs on elemental interactions. Apply one element, then trigger a reaction with another for bonus damage. When you build a team, do not just stack four damage dealers. Pick Espers whose elements combo together. A tight core built around two elements will out damage a random pile of high rarity units.

A few habits worth keeping:

  • Dodge to reposition, parry to punish. They solve two different problems.
  • Keep one healer or sustain unit in your rotation for open world runs, because attrition out there is real.
  • Learn one reliable combo before you start experimenting with exotic team comps.

Pulls: Build a Core Team, Not a Collection

NTE is a gacha, so Espers and weapons come out of limited banners with a pity system attached. Spend like every pull counts:

  • Anchor yourself on the beginner banner. It is the cheapest road to a functional team.
  • Put elemental cohesion above rarity. Two Espers that combo beat two unrelated 5 stars every time.
  • Leave the weapon banners alone at first. Character banners return more per pull in your opening weeks. Signature weapons are a later optimization.
  • Sit on premium currency until you have confirmed a banner unit actually slots into your core team.

Get one complete team of four that works together before you chase anybody new.

The Open City: Exploring, Driving and City Tycoon

This is the part where NTE stops being just another anime gacha. Hethereau is genuinely worth exploring. Hidden shops, side characters and random events all pay you for wandering off the main quest.

Use the vehicle system. NTE is one of very few anime games with real driving physics: acceleration you can feel, drifting and vehicle customization. On top of being fun, cars cut a huge amount of travel time out of your sessions. Grab a vehicle early and upgrade it, because those savings pile up over dozens of hours.

Do not sleep on City Tycoon. The property management mode lets you buy real estate, decorate homes and, most importantly, earn passive income. It is a quiet resource faucet. Set it up early and it drips currency and materials while you are out on missions. Nothing forces you to touch it, but skipping it means leaving free progression sitting there.

Explore between story beats. The main quest is your spine for XP and unlocks, but the side content is where the materials, the currency and the best atmosphere live. Trade off between story missions and free roam instead of sprinting through the campaign.

Your First Week, Step by Step

  1. Push the main story until the combat systems and City Tycoon unlock.
  2. Pull on the beginner banner and build one team of four that shares elemental synergy.
  3. Practice parries on weak enemies until the timing clicks.
  4. Grab a vehicle and upgrade it so getting around stops eating your session.
  5. Set up a City Tycoon property for passive income.
  6. Trade off story and exploration, and hold premium pulls for a unit you know fits.

Where That Leaves You

The ambition here cuts both ways. NTE hands you a slick action RPG, a driving sandbox and a management sim at the same time, and it is very easy to end up scattered across all three. Discipline is the fix. Get the combat trinity down, meaning swapping, parries and elemental synergy, build one coherent team, and let the vehicle and City Tycoon systems push you along in the background. Do that and Hethereau turns into one of the richest playgrounds the genre has.
