Project Entropy is a science fiction strategy MMO where your personal reflexes matter far less than the base you build, the fleet you raise and the alliance you sign with. The first 10 to 15 hours are the steep part. Progression runs on timers, resources are tight, and the tutorial keeps handing you shiny upgrades without once mentioning opportunity cost. Spend badly here and you will spend the next week catching up. This guide is about getting those early calls right so you snowball instead of stall.
The loop is easy to describe and hard to run well: gather resources, upgrade your Command Center, unlock new buildings and research, train fleets and ground units, then push that power onto the region map to hold territory with your alliance. Everything gates behind your Command Center level, so that building tier is the single most important number in your early game. Treat every other structure as support for it.
What to Do in Your First Sessions
New players bleed the most progress by upgrading wide instead of deep. Focus, do not sprawl.
- Push the Command Center, but check first. Each level unlocks the next tier of buildings and research. Before you queue it, look at the prerequisites, because you will usually need two or three support buildings at a matching level. Do those, then the Command Center, in that order.
- Never let the build and research queues sit idle. Empty queues are hours you threw away in a game that runs on timers. Before you log off, start the longest upgrade you can afford so it finishes overnight.
- Get resource production and storage up early. Higher tier buildings cost dramatically more. If production cannot keep pace you will spend your evenings watching a timer. Level your generators and, above all, your warehouses, since protected storage is what stops raiders from cleaning you out while you sleep.
- Do not train troops you cannot feed. Every unit costs upkeep. A fleet your economy cannot support is dead weight sitting in a hangar. Size your army to your income.
- Clear every daily and campaign mission. They are your richest source of speedups, resources and premium currency early on. The campaign missions in particular fund your first real power spike.
Here is a rule that holds up: if an upgrade does not unlock something or raise resource throughput, it can wait.
Building Your First Fleet
Combat power comes from fleet composition and your Heroes, not from clicking faster. Picture rock paper scissors sitting on top of raw stats.
- Learn the counter triangle. Like most games in the genre, unit types beat and lose to each other in a cycle. Scout before you commit, because sending the wrong composition at a defended target is how an entire army disappears in one exchange.
- Invest in a few Heroes, deeply. Heroes command your fleets and carry serious passive and active buffs. Spreading experience and upgrade materials over a dozen of them leaves every one of them weak. Pick two or three that match how you want to play and pour everything into those.
- Match your fleet to your job. Are you farming to feed the alliance economy, or fighting to hold a line? Farming fleets want load capacity and gathering speed. Combat fleets want attack, defense and Hero synergy. One setup trying to do both does neither well.
- Always keep a reserve at home. Sending your entire military out at once leaves your base wide open, and losing your standing army in the middle of an upgrade can cost you days.
Alliances and Staying Alive on the Region Map
This is what solo players underestimate. Project Entropy is built around alliance warfare, and a lone base out on the region map is prey rather than a player.
- Join an active alliance right away, and weigh activity over size. A huge dead alliance will not reinforce you when someone attacks. Look for members online in your timezone and leadership that actually coordinates. Alliance help cuts your upgrade timers, which is worth more than almost any single building.
- Settle next to your alliance. Moving your base into alliance territory buys you faster reinforcements and shared control of nearby resource nodes. The isolated base always gets raided first.
- Shield up before you log off exposed. Peace shields cover you during long absences or right after an expensive upgrade. Never let one lapse while your army is away or your warehouse is stuffed.
- Talk before you shoot. Region control is coordinated, not improvised. Follow your alliance target calls instead of starting fights that drag unwanted attention onto everyone.
Spend Smart, Grow Steady
Premium currency and speedups run out fast in the early game, so save them for moments that count: a Command Center upgrade that opens a new tier, or an event whose rewards you can realistically finish. Do not burn speedups shaving a couple of minutes off a five minute timer. Hold them for the upgrades measured in hours and days, where they actually change your trajectory.
The players who thrive here are not the ones spending fastest. They are the ones who keep every queue full, concentrate their Heroes, and lean on an alliance that talks to each other. Get through the first 15 hours with your economy intact and good people around you, and the game opens right up. Play patient, play focused, and the galaxy is there to fight over.
